Taking the residents to Haga-ri

The US battle against the North Korean military in Yeongdong, started on July 23rd 1950, ended within just three days and the US military withdrew, while the North Korean army entered Yeongdong eup.

According to the victims, a number of US soldiers on a truck came to Imgye-ri in the late afternoon on July 25th and ordered 500-600 residents of Imgye-ri and Jugok-ri to evacuate. The residents were forced to go toward Daegu on foot following the national road for Hwanggan via Jugok-ri.

While on the move to south, the refugees were told by the US army, who blocked the road with their cars¡¯ headlights on, to move toward a gravelly field in Haga-ri.
