    In the 14th year of King Seongjong, Goryeo, Gyejujasa was appointed.

    8In the 9th year of Hyeonjong, integrated into Sangju, Gyeongsang province.
  • 1172
    In the 2nd year of Myeongjong, Gammu was appointed and promoted to Hyeonryeong 4 years later. But it was demoted to Gammu again and finally abolished.
  • 1413
    In the 13th year of Taejong, Joseon, integrated into Chungcheong province with Hyeongam appointed. Yonghwa was included.

    In the 32nd year of Gojong, by the Royal Order No 98th, named YEONGDONG COUNTY with 12 “myeon”s to administrate including Gunnae, Gundong, Namil, Namyi, Seoil, Seoyi, Bukil, Bukyi, Yangnae, Yangnamilso, Yangnamyiso and Yonghwa.

    According to the departmental order No. 111, incorporated with Hwanggan-gun, Okcheon-gun and part of Sangju-gun to be reformed into 11 “myeon”s including YeongDong, Yongsan, Shimcheon, Yanggang, Yangsan, Yonghwa, Haksan, Hwanggan, Meagok, Sangchon and Hwanggeum.

    According to the departmental order No. 221, promoted into YeongDong-“eup”, forming the current administrative district: 1 “eup” and 10 “myeon”s.
  • 1961. Oct.1th
    By the Local Administration Temporary Law No. 707, “eup”and “myeon” was abolished and “gun”(county) was created.
  • 1990. Dec.31th
    By the Local Administration Law No. 4310, local autonomy based on “gun” was implemented. (Mar.26th 1991 held Local Parliamentary Election, Apr. 15th Opened the new Parliament)
  • 1991. Jul.1th
    By the “Gun” Order No. 1332, Hwanggeum-myeon was renamed as Chupungryeong-myeon.
  • 1995. Jul.1th
    By the Law on Official Oath & Corrupted Election Prevention No. 4739, held Local Administrative Leader Election (Jun. 27th 1995 held Local Mayor and Parliamentary Election /July 1th first mayor elected by popular vote was inaugurated, opening the 2nd local parliament)
